Excerpt from New Covenant Power Album by our Mother Foundress

“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit that the Father will send in My Name-- He will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.” (Jn 14:26)

God’s Word is always conceived by the Holy Spirit. I had a tremendous breakthrough when He taught me this. He made me realize how many of my thoughts and words are pre-conceived. Paul says, “Let all your thoughts, all your words be under the action of the Holy Spirit” (cf. 2 Cor 10:5). When we let all our thoughts and words be conceived by the Holy Spirit, they come forth with His power.

It takes discipline to check everything out with Him. The Father once showed me that this is where Adam and Eve made their mistake. He said, “They did not check it out.” Instead, they got into a dialogue with the serpent, and his words caused them to come up with their own preconceived ideas. They reacted and responded from these misconceptions instead of waiting to check things out with God. They fell from tremendous intimacy, light and grace. In the Old Testament, God says, “My thoughts are not your thoughts and my ways are not your ways” (cf. Is 55:8). Many of our thoughts are preconceived, because so often we presume to know what He would say or do. We get ahead of Him. Once we begin to believe His Word to us, we will find the humility we need to check things out with Him first.

In John 16, Jesus speaks to us of the Holy Spirit, and says, “He will speak only what He hears, and will announce to you the things to come. What He will announce to you, He will have from Me” (cf. Jn 16:13,14). As we listen to Him, He in turn listens, and only tells us what He has heard. So how do we listen? We have to learn to spend a certain amount of time each day, just being alone with Him, and listening to Him. It does not have to be a long period of time; even ten minutes will do, if that is all you can manage. It does, however, need to be a daily practice, if we want to be fed by the relationship, on a daily basis. “Give us this day our daily Bread” (Lk 11:3).

Jesus taught us, “When you pray, go into your inner room, shut the door, and pray to the Father in private” (cf. Mt 16:6). There are different ways to beginning this type of prayer, but I strongly suggest that you begin by listening. Do not speak. Just come into His presence and enjoy being there. When we are in the presence of someone we have not seen for a while or someone we like to be with, we always just take a minute just to be together. Why not come just to enjoy His presence, His peace and His comfort? Let Him lead the conversation. How often we try to lead God. Jesus was very clear when He said, “Follow me” (Jn 1:43). It is like a beautiful day. Let Him lead and we follow.)

“My sheep hear My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.” (Jn 10:27)
