Excerpt from Healing Power of Compassion by our Mother Foundress
“Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in Her Heart.” (Lk 2:19)
Long ago the Lord told me, “When you hurt, I hurt.” Then He reversed it – when the Lord hurts, we hurt. When we pick up the pain in the hearts of Jesus, Mary, the Holy Father, or the servants of God, we hurt. We hurt when those we love are hurting.
So it’s not only identification for us, but it’s entering into the mystery of the redemptive love. When we suffer in union with Jesus or when we suffer in union with Our Lady at the foot of the Cross, it’s redemptive. It has a power that no other kind of love has, that no other kind of intercession has, and we call this “The Office of Intercession,” the burden-bearing level of intercession. We enter into the mediation of the priesthood of Jesus, the High Priest, suspended, you might say, between Heaven and earth.
To be suspended is to be on the Cross. This is the kind of mysticism that is real mysticism. Jesus said, “If I be lifted up, I’ll draw all men to Myself” (Jn 12:32). This is the power of evangelization. Sometimes we can’t reach a whole world instantly, but we can reach a whole world by identification with Jesus Christ crucified and allowing ourselves to be lifted up with Him on the Cross and draw all men unto Him.
Sometimes we think of evangelization only as going out – touching, reaching, and speaking out, and it is. But there is a power in evangelization of drawing that Jesus is showing to us in His great mystery of Calvary’s redemptive love. Intercessors come into this level to draw others to Jesus.
“And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to Myself. " (Jn 12:32)
