Excerpt from Church Alive Album by our Mother Foundress
“I make up now in my body what is still lacking to the sufferings of Christ for the sake of His Body, the Church.” (Col 1:24)
Isn’t it amazing that there’s something still lacking to the sufferings of Christ? Redemption has been won. Jesus has the victory; the enemy has been defeated. But it has not been totally distributed. St. Peter said that we are “distributors of God’s manifold grace,” His love, and His glory (cf. 1 Pt 4:10). To distribute it, Jesus takes up residency with us. He Himself becomes the distributor through the piercing of our heart. This is how this grace was released in the first place, and that is how He continues to release it today.
So there will be times when we have piercings of our heart. That is painful, but it is the power of intercession. If we have intercession at this level, we need to ask for everything that the Lord has placed on our hearts. We are paying a price, but it’s worth it. The reward and the fruit are great.
This kind of ministry and reconciliation has to take place in a human body. This is why Jesus has said to the Father, “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you have prepared for Me” (Heb 10:5) so that He could continue the sacrifice with, in and through us.
In the Book of Revelation we read that the Lamb Who was slain is on the throne (Rv 5:6), and yet the Lamb Who was slain lives within us. He lives within us to be slain as He was. He is also the Shepherd in the Book of Revelation Who leads His people to those Life-Giving Waters (Rv 7:17). As we lay down our lives, the Shepherd shepherds His people to the Life-Giving Waters again. He gives them that new Life again and again.
“Then the angel showed me the river of Life-Giving Water, sparkling like crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.” (Rv 22:1)
