Excerpt from New Covenant Power
Talk given by M. Nadine

“As the Father loves Me, so I also love you. Remain in My love.”   (Jn 15:9)

Paul tells us to follow the way of love even as Christ has loved us.  We learn from the Book of Hebrews and other books of the Bible that Jesus is the Mediator of the New Covenant (cf. Heb 9:15).  He has access at every moment to the right hand of the Power, the Right Hand of God the Father.  And He has obtained now a far more excellent ministry of intercession (cf. Heb 8:6).  It is far more excellent because He is at the right hand of the Father.  John says, “We have in the presence of the Father now, Jesus, an Intercessor Who is just” (cf. Heb 9:11-14).  He is an offering not only for our sins, but for those of the whole world.  The Lamb needs our bodies to continue His redemptive love through obedience and sacrifice.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, Paul says, “This means that if anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation.”  God, in His mercy, has reconciled us to Himself, and He has given us the ministry of reconciliation (cf. 2 Cor 5:18).  There is only one Mediator, one Intercessor, one Reconciler.  It is now in Him, with Him, and through Him, that we are qualified ministers of the New Covenant.  We qualify, because we are temples of the Spirit, a house of God.  We qualify because we let the Spirit love us to death and give us away.  We especially qualify because with Jesus, we have access at any time of the day or night to the right hand of the Father, Who is within us.  We live on in His love because He is within us.  “To Him whose Power at work in us can do immeasurable more that we can ask or imagine, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations” (Eph 3:20).  Truly, as Our Lady said, “His mercy is to all generations” (cf. LK 1:50).

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endures forever.”   (Dan 3:89)
