Excerpt from God’s Armor Talk by M. Nadine

“In all circumstances, hold faith up before you as your shield.” (Eph 6:16)

What a beautiful gift God has given to us! Faith keeps us protected. Faith is a weapon, an extremely important part of our armor. As we mature and start to use our gift of faith, it will begin to grow.
Jesus was always held in the Father’s love. The Father’s love is what ultimately moves behind the gift of faith. It is the power of His love. The Father’s love is like an engine in a car; it gives it the power to move. Once we begin to trust in that kind of love, then we begin to trust in the Person who is Love. We know that this Love, the Father Himself, will carry us through.
We have to constantly keep our focus on God who lives within us. He’s very close. Do you really, really believe all that Jesus has said to you? Think about the words, “I am with you always” (Mt 28:20). I didn’t always believe that. I used to cry out, “Lord, where are you? Why have you left me? Help!” Yet Jesus says, “I am with you always.” These are teachings of our faith. We can grow up hearing these words and yet never fully embrace them. These are teachings of Jesus, and satan will always try to undermine them, so we need to be firmly rooted in the teachings of Jesus.
So even after we have believed God’s word in us, satan can distort the message and our belief in it. We can’t become complacent in our belief. Our belief that “God loves me” is one of the major areas and beliefs that satan will attack. We have to be careful of becoming complacent about God’s love for us personally. This is what satan is ultimately trying to undermine all the time because this causes division and that’s what he’s after.
Therefore, “In all circumstances, hold faith up before you as your shield” (Eph 6:16). My faith and belief in Jesus’ love for me will keep my shield in place. It will keep my eyes focused on Jesus and keep me protected from all harm. When I was a little girl in Sunday School, we would sing a song, “Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong!” Amen.

“As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in My love.” (Jn 15:9)
