“As proof that you are children, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out, ‘Abba, Father!’” (Gal 4:6)

As we pray through the Our Father, Jesus teaches us more and more about the Father. He says, “Hallowed be Thy Name” (Mt 6:9). Hallowed -Holy- be His Name. Our Lady said the same thing when She was overshadowed by the Holy Spirit. “Holy is His Name” (Lk 1:49). She had experienced God’s holiness, and She spoke from Her experience. In Ephesians 1:4, Paul tells us, “God chose us in Him before the world began.” God chose you before the world began, to be holy and sinless in His sight, to be full of love. He is the Lover, and we are the beloved. He is Love, and He fills us with His love so that we can be holy and full of love.

A saint is one who is holy, full of love. We pray, “Hail Mary, full of grace.” She is full of Jesus, full of the Spirit, full of Life, and of Love. She is our Mother and She wants each of us to have what She has. The Father wants this too. He says, “Be holy, because I am holy” (cf 1 Pet 1:16). We are His children, and we need to look like Him. We are family. When we are overshadowed by the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to become children of God. John tells us that we become “children of light” (cf. Jn 12:36). In 1 John 1:5, he says, “In God there is no darkness; He is all light.” So if we are going to be full of God, we are definitely going to be full of light. There is no darkness in God. He can see all the time.

In the first letter of John, we read, “If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we also have fellowship with one another” (cf. 1 Jn 1:7). Have you ever wondered why there is so little fellowship in the world today, even in the Church, and in the neighborhoods? Hardly anybody knows anybody! It is because we are not completely walking in the light. When two people walk in the light, they see God in each other, and they will have fellowship with each other. When we walk in the light, we will see God!

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great Light; Upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom a Light has shone.” (Is 9:1)
