Excerpt from Prepare the Way of the Lord Album by our Mother Foundress

“Be imitators of God as His very dear children ”   (Eph 5:1).

We like to imitate others from the time we are very little children and even into our adulthood.  We always want a mentor.  We are always looking for role models.  And here He is – God, Himself.  When we are really aware of our identity and know that we are children, we are going to imitate Jesus.  We are going to want to imitate God and Our Lady.  These are experts, our Role Models.  “Follow Me” (Mk 2:14), Jesus said.  You do not have to lead.  Just follow Me.  This is a very simple directive.

Jesus was always speaking to children.  Children love to play follow-the-leader.  They do not have a hard time following.  Yet, we have a hard time following when we become adults.  Following can become very difficult for us because the mind, the rationale, takes over.  Children follow.  Wisdom will follow.  That is the wisdom of surrender.  Every fiat, every yes, little or big, becomes extremely important.  It has power especially if we can say “yes” with joy and not just grin and bear it.  Paul said, “God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor 9:7).  So, give it all you’ve got!

We must allow Jesus to have the freedom within us that He loves.  Wisdom will grow if we allow ourselves to be led by the Spirit as Jesus was.  He is the Lamb, Wisdom Incarnate, and He is modeling for us.  When we allow ourselves to be led, we have wisdom at its best.

“Wisdom instructs Her children ”  (Sir 4:11) “Come, Lord Jesus!”  (Rev 22:20)
